This beginning of the month was a bit of a race. We had to transfer our stuff in the van but also prepare the Airstream for storage to undetermined duration. We caulk holes, we drain everything, we put antifreeze in the pipes, we disconnect everything etc, etc ... We remove the original fridge of Popo (you'll see why later).
Short after 3 days everything is ready and Popo too!
We are the May 6 and it's time for us to leave Edward's Ranch where we spent the winter. One says goodbye to our guests and animals with a small tear to the eye and we take the road towards the wintering shed. The Airstream will be stored here until the next adventures that await him. We do not tell you more but we have some ideas behind the head for a while.
So here we arethis time just two on board Popo, direction New Hampshire in the USA.
On the road, we go to see our friends the Blondo in their charming little red cottage near Lac Megantic in Quebec. The opportunity to talk about travel, road trip and share a succulent Vegan meal prepared by them. This is the beginning of a new adventure for us, marked by this evening between travelers.
The next day after a walk along the lake, we take the road again to finally cross the border with the USA, a little bit lower. The nice and intriguing customs officers ask us just technical questions about the van "Hey! Nice van! " and we continue our way across Maine. A beautiful crossing of the state that leads us to New Hampshire with our friends Casey and Ransom (@everyroadsleadstohome) met a little over a year before in Baja California, Mexico. On our arrival "K2" the dog immediately recognizes the sound of the Popo motor and we make a nice welcome! Ces-trois là, nous avaient manqué !
The goal in coming here is to have a good time with our friends but also finish preparing the van with parts ordered in the USA.
Ransom is also passionate about mechanics and even offers us to use his workshop and his tools. The luxury!
On the other hand, the bad surprise when arriving is that we have a water leak when we use the kitchen faucet... A plastic fitting did not support -40 ° C this winter and paf! Of course, we did not realize it right away and during the journey the water flowed under the wooden floor and the furniture ... Great, we would have done well ...
So we move on the first three days to dismantle the inside of the van then to dry everything and finally to all go up with a new floor! A nice way to celebrate Joana's birthday! In short, happiness ...
So we spend a few weeks here the time ofinstall the new refrigerator, a spare wheel support at the back, the roof rack and some small accessories. (An article about our new installations arrives very quickly.)
Some rooms have been slow to arrive, we lost a little time that will catch up on the road to fully enjoy the suite without hurry.
In the meantime we take the time to we walk not far, in Portsmouth, at the State Park of Pawtuckaway and at the edge of the ocean. And the most important, we spend time with our friends.
They even introduce us to some American customs by taking us for example see a Nascar race! Popcorn, beer and racing car guaranteed!
Or, by organizing a 4 × 4 outing on dedicated trails dans les forêts humides du New Hampshire. On dit « humides » pour ne pas dire « boueuses »… En tout cas on peut dire qu’we had a lot of fun !
This month of May is quickly pastwe are already early June, and the van is readyit's time to leave! It is not without a twinge of heart that we leave New Hampshire and our friends Casey, Ransom and K2 but we know that we will meet again very soon in the West in September since they are moving in Bend, Oregon.
And now, go to Alaska! But that's another story…
